Title: Flagrant questions?
Post by: RVD on Oct 14, 10, 01:20:44 PM
Just started using the Flagrant theme on smf 1.1.11 .
when you add a child board, it starts a new line on the index page? And If I have many child boards, they overrun the center section.
Here's a link to the test board. :
http://vintagesledders.com/trainwreck/index.php (http://vintagesledders.com/trainwreck/index.php)

We also added some buttons, but the hover stays lit on them? Any ideas?

Many thanks for any help with this.

Jeff,
I'm sorry if this came off as a complaint, it wasn't meant to be. What i was asking is this, Is there anyway to make the child board stay within the section they are a child of instead of them being in another line? This theme is awesome, just hoping to change this one feature.

Thank you for the fast reply.

We have a forum with a bunch of subforums, this is just the test forum. I made the titles long to show how they stretched across the page instead of staying in the middle. Is it possible to have the child boards stay in the same box(section) as the board they are the child of? Any help would be great
Thank you

OK, Thanks for your help so far, I got the three buttons to work, and we made Flagrant our default theme. This morning I checked the error log and they were piling up.  :'(

Here's what the 3 different errors said:

Use of undefined constant Forum - assumed 'Forum'
File: /home/*******/public_html/forums/Themes/default/Display.template.php (main_above sub template - eval?)
Line: 393

8: Use of undefined constant Classifieds - assumed 'Classifieds'

Line: 390

8: Use of undefined constant Home - assumed 'Home'
File: /home/*******/public_html/forums/Themes/default/Display.template.php (main_above sub template - eval?)
Line: 387

Can anyone help me with this? Thank you

I have attached a copy of the index section where these errors occur.

single 'quotes' aren't good to use.

RVD the error you have looks like it's not theme related, but rather an admin template call that's not correct, it maybe due to a recent modification or change you possibly have made, how ever if you change something in theme that is asking for and admin parse it maybe related to one or more of your buttons...But in any case clear your browser cache, and go through and test all you buttons and see if they get the correct response to their links!

If you have any further problems it's best you zip up the complete theme and let us have a look at it on a demo site!! so we can tested it out for you!

but looks like You and Crip have worked out most of the bugs!!

I made the exact changes ( I think ) that you did to the index. I am still getting the errors?  I am uploading the two index sections to compare. The one labeled "fixed' is the one from the test site where the errors were fixed by Crip. The one labeled "GRRR" is the one that is still give the three errors listed above after I thought I made the corrections?  Thanks for your help.

I don't believe this will help any of us, please send the complete them as you are using it, you will need to dwn load it from your server via FTP, and then zip it up, I will then load it to my demo site and give it try, but like I mention, I'll need some time and complete details on what you have done and install / un-installed, before this happened! Mods and all. I have a PHP editor, this what is needed to edit PHP and I also have an up-to-date  X/HTML5 and CSS3 editors. MS stuff does not make it in this stuff.

Please note though if Crip is helping you, then lets let him finished up tomorrow! he will get back to you!!!

I took off a few of the mods we were'nt using, I then took that section from the forum, and pasted it into the test forum to see if I could replicate the 3 errors.  Nope. nothing.
Now I'm really confused.

I have the line 214 error on the test forum, and the 3 other errors on the main forum. They are both working fine, I just would like to fix the errors.

Thanks for listening.

RVD,

I don't know where that "Use of undefined constant Memorable_Quotes" error comes from but my guess would be that it is coming from the "Random_Quote 1.2.2.1" Mod.  That Mod is now an outdated Mod and if you ever had it installed, it's possible that there's some stray code left in there, even if you uninstalled it.  I would consider trying to uninstall that Mod, even if you have to manually uninstall it, and see if that solves that problem.

I'll take off a few more of the mods on the main forum and put the fixed index on it. Some of the mods won't uninstall? I get an error message. In you opinion which mods should I lose. Avea is one we need to keep, I didnt add all the mods as there was others plugging stuff in.

Here's what happened when I tried to uninstall the twitter mod:

!!Error in Package Installation

At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

!!Error in Package Installation

Any insight on this?

RVD,

Usually, but not always, this happens because a Mod that you install changes something that a previous Mod you installed is looking for.  Also, it sometimes happens when you do an automatic update of SMF.  If the Mods are uninstalled in the reverse order that you first installed them in (in other words uninstall the last one first), sometimes you can get them to uninstall.  The other thing you can do is go to the SMF Mods site, to the particular Mod you want to uninstall, and click the "parse" button for the version of the Mod and the SMF version you are using and you will be given the edits needed to install the Mod manually.  Doing the edits in the reverse order will obviously allow you to uninstall manually.

If you want to only keep a few Mods, undoubtedly the easiest way is to download the "Large Upgrade" for the version of SMF you are using and apply it.  This will wipe out all of your current Mods.  Once that is done, you can then re-install the Mods you wanted to keep.  There is more info available over at SMF on doing this if you need it.

Of course, if you do any of the above, you should make a backup of your Forum before continuing, especially the database, in case you have to revert to it in the event of problems. ;)

I hope this helps you somewhat.

I would like to suggest that you down load a backup copy off your DB and a copy of your settings.php, (this contains all your DB log-in setting and info.) if by chance you need to start all over again, but, if you follow the instructions carefully before you press next then you should not have troubles. I always down load the complete site first, but that's just me.
