Title: Fine Tuning BR Finale
Post by: TLone on Jan 30, 12, 10:10:52 AM
First off, I would like to send out a heart felt thank you for the excellent BlackRain Theme series.  These sets have given a no budget, almost nill web publisher the ability to achieve a look very close to the expensive custom work I had in my mind.

And to the same end, this forum.  What an excellent resource and way of paying into the world wide web karma community.  Thank you.

I have just upgraded to SMF 2.02 w/ SP 2.3.4 and BR Finale 2011 here http://troutlegend.com/forum/

No reminder needed. I will backup all files before edit. I am familiar with cpanel access.

Fine tuning questions:
1) Tighten up all top space:
A) I would like to disable or remove the header with userinfo and search box.
B) Tighten up the space & remove dotted line between nav bar and gallery recent.
C) Tighten up any other space remaining.

That is enough for now.  Thank you again.

Say Nice Job...And that is a great theme Jeff did.. your site is looking good..
I think though the main content may be a bit off center, it looks as if it's to the right side a bit too much!

but not a biggy, maybe my 24"  wide screen?

regards,
maxx

T-Lone,

I hate to sound dumb. Lol.. , but i need to have you explain this better / different , possible Screen-Shots of what you mean & where??

Crip,

Not at all.  If there is anyone sounding dumb here I'm sure it's me.  Please see attached screenshot. I hope this explains better.

Maxx,

Yes, i see your point. I thought this was a part of the BR Finale?  Where this a black w/ thin white stripe bkgrnd behind the forum?  I would like to remove this and center if possible?

And 1 more recent found issue:
2) Top Site Logo gets cut off on lower resolutions so viewers do not see a part of the right portion of logo.  Is there a way to have it resize to viewers screen?

In my old black rain I used to have a "unapproved" line in my admin user block so I could easily see if there were any new members needing approval.

Can that be added back in?

TLone,

That block doesn't have anything to do with the theme in use.  The Portal you are using controls that.  It looks like SimplePortal.  If it was there before, and isn't now, it probably means that there aren't any members awaiting approval so it won't show in that case.  At least that's the way it works in TinyPortal which is the one that I am more familiar with.

I did remove all that in the "(index.temp.php)" .. it can be added back if need be , so Check Default Theme Curve ..
...........  if it shows in that SP_Block with Default then it will need added    back ..

This was unrelated to your recent edits Crip.  And it does not show in the default curve theme.

The "unapproved" line was something that existed before upgrading to SMF 2.0.

I was just wondering if it was an easy add back?  If it's not related to the theme at all or too much trouble I can look for help elsewhere.

If it's no on Default Curve theme , then you gots problems somewhere else..SP block maybe??

I can add it back to me BR-F Theme , but i not think it will work..?

Crip, I think Zarprime is right.  It's just something that is not currently not included in the code for SimplePortal 2.3.4 User Block.

I'm going to ask over there. Maybe someone has it solved all ready.

thanx!

Maxx knows quite a bit more about SimplePortal than I do so he may know more about how the user block in that works than I do.  I mean what I can do is register for your site, and you can see if it shows back up without approving me but I can't imagine that Crip removed this capability from the SP files.

Zar, I have members awaiting approval, so I'm sure it's not included.

Sorry to confuse. I do not believe Crip has fiddled with this at all. Most likely SP coding.

btw, here is the pic i thought i uploaded earlier.

Want me to add that back?

That'd be great if you could!

I just want that notify in the side user block though.  The work you did removing the top panel was excellent and I think really tightened up my site.

Bro '  -> you said it didn't show in the Default Theme ,  so , i'm thinking the >2.0.2 upgrade / update went wrong...?. did use use the 2.0.2 Large_Upgrade Package?..?

I know I can't add it in a SP-block , if not in the Theme i cannot do it..

Crip.  I did use the large upgrade.  I think it might be just something that wasn't carried over to SP 2.0.

Hoping to get some help on the SP forum...

No help from SPforum thus far.

Quick questions guys.  Is it possible to reproduce the "Awaiting Approval (1)" line in a block?  Is it as simple as just copying and pasting the correct code?  This would give me exactly what I want.

It's possible yes? .. we have it here in a TP_Block & up-top as well ----
..but see bro , we all users of Tiny-Portal Blocks which is prolly a better SMF Portal , but we don't know S*** about SP..
   • If you want further information about adding it back , please , just let us know. :)

This is the code used Here:
';
// Are there any members waiting for approval?
      if (!empty($context['unapproved_members']))
         echo '
               <li>', $context['unapproved_members'] == 1 ? $txt['approve_thereis'] : $txt['approve_thereare'], ' <a href="', $scripturl, '?action=admin;area=viewmembers;sa=browse;type=approve">', $context['unapproved_members'] == 1 ? $txt['approve_member'] : $context['unapproved_members'] . ' ' . $txt['approve_members'], '</a> ', $txt['approve_members_waiting'], '</li>
    </ul>';
   echo '

..you can try that?
