Title: Analysis
Post by: xPandax on Jul 02, 13, 06:13:58 AM
Hi,

First of all thanks for all the free themes. Your contribution towards custom themes in SMF in incredible.

I downloaded "Actualism" theme from your website and it works perfectly. But in the error log, the following error appears for all the links, i.e. 2 errors/request.

Quote8: Undefined variable: modSettings
Themes/default/SimTopics.template.php (body_below sub template - eval?)

8: Undefined variable: modSettings
Themes/default/languages/BadBehavior_bbc.english.php (body_below sub template - eval?)

Yes, these errors are related to "similar topics (http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=3473)" and "bad behaviour (http://mod)" mods but those errors aren't thrown when I use "reference" or "Anecdota" theme made by you.

Please help me when you find time. :)

Panda,

I fail to see what or how these error s are pointing you toward the theme as being in error? This trouble you are having seems more related to the mod itself and you should realy go to whom ever made this mod for their support, Jeff does not modify his themes to fit Mods. He only supports erros with the theme, if any pop up!

regards,
Maxx

Yes the issue seems to be between the SMF default theme not excepting the change the mod whats to make to it, and the "body_below sub template" and I would not force this, it could mess up you forum or the db tables!

Maxx

But there are no such errors when using "reference & anecdota" themes. I've mentioned this in the OP. That's the reason I opened this thread asking for support.

I understand that you don't change your themes so that its compatible with mods. I'm sorry for making this thread.

I reinstalled those 2 mods and all mods that required edits in custom theme.

You could BackUp & try changing the below -- just a suggestion , not recommended?

index.template.php

function template_body_below()
{
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $txt;

function template_body_below()
{
global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $txt, $modSettings;

...

try this and let us know what your admin error logs say!

admin > Server settings > "General" >  un-check the radio button : "evaluation of templates".

then check you admin "error log" and see what errors you get?

Just the latest few errors!

I'll try to get back later or tomorrow I have tons of stuff to do!

regards,
Maxx

I don't know how to thank you. It worked. Thank you very very much.  :2up:

Thanks to both of you for your time.  :grinz:

PS: I checked reference & anecdota themes, and yes the index.template.php of those themes have "$modSettings" under template_body_below function.
