OK, I hope that someone knows something about it...
Or, if anyone has any link where I can read something about this kind of problem - please post it here or PM me...

Many thx for support... :)

I have antoher tech question: on this 1.1.11 version we have now, how can I embed a picassa slideshow? You know, in one regular post...
And can anyone do that, or it must be the forum admin?

king julian,

I'm going to take a shot at this even though I've never used a Picassa Slideshow.  From what I've read about it in the past, I believe that the embedding code for one requires that you be able to post html.  SMF limits the ability of anyone posting html in Forum posts to Admins of their own sites, using bbc codes to accomplish this.  For this reason, I don't believe that just anyone on your site would be able to post a Picassa Slideshow in a Forum post.

Now, if you were using some Portal software, like TinyPortal (one that is near and dear to our hearts), you could conceivably allow anyone to post html articles that contain the html for the slideshow.  Even if you were to do that, it would be best to make sure that these articles created by others are approved by you before they are released (published) to the rest of your members.  However, TinyPortal gives you enough creative control to be able to do this in an efficient manner.

Now, again, I could be wrong about how these things work.  If you can give me some embedding code for a slideshow, or even a link where I can read about it, I can probably show you what it looks like on one of my test sites, in both a TinyPortal article and in a Forum post.

I'm kind of in agreement with ZarPrime on this, I would not want members to be able to just embed code to my forum all willy nilly lol..

First off if they use a code that is  sized to large ( just a simple unknowingly mistake) can through your page or page way out of whack, and some time corrupt tables, leaving you in big trouble unless you know how to correct MYSQL problems (or even just bad code).

Then you find those whom may want to do damage to your site and this would be bad news.

Now as admin just adding a few

tags u can do this for them, if it relevant to your content, I have many request for videos and such and I go to the sites I like and get the embedded code and place it myself and size it the way I like!

Now if you want to add an embedded Slide show as a front page or top of the front page there are many ways to do this.

But for me better safe and a little work than sorry.
I left my site without spam control just one night and had 200 porno spam ads on my site the next day, and I glad I found them real early in the morning had to go to maint mode and delete them all and bad the IP.

If you have a trusted member or mod you can give them permission to do this..

maxx

ZarPrime, Maxx...

Recently, I received admin status on our forum... so, I guess this means I can post this picassa...

It is not a front page stuff or anything alike, but one of our honored members would like to post a slideshow about himself...

I will try this, just as you guys sugested (place code in html tags, if I got it correctly), and if I have any problems, I will come back again...

Many thx for help and your time... :)

If you visit a site that allows you to place there stuff on your site they will have a link or button to parse the embedded code...copy and paste with-in the html tags and add center tag if need!

but do it in the bbc  HTML mode. if not set you can do this in your profile settings!

Maxx

Huh, Maxx, what is a center tag?

And another thing - could you be more specific about how to set a bbc html?
Did I understood correctly that this option is in my personal forum profile?

Sorry to bother you with all this... New I am in it, as the Yoda would say...

While logged in as admin> click on Profile then go to the>"Look and Layout">"Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default".> and click on the little radio button> this will allow you to chose between HTML editor or WYSIWYG editor when you are posting, there will be on the right top side of you BBC window an icon called Toggle view, you will need to be in the HTML mode to properly post an Embedded flash/video or post.

Now I found it useful to place the embedded code in like this:

embedded code here

so it will be centered on the post window or center block!
