Title: Change theme Header - Mobile by Crip
Post by: darlene on Jan 30, 11, 05:06:31 PM
I found this topic here and deleted the appropriate php to remove the avatar and show unread posts, etc. When I did this I got:

Template Parse Error!

I have kept trying a no matter if I change it in the online editor of adobe go live I still get this.

I would also like to simplify the top by removing the news and the search in the top banner
and just having my logo, I keep trying and keep having parse errors. Thank you so much, I love
this template but do need the top banner to be white.

Yes and the search button, though I am starting to think I turn that off somewhere else in smf as just found where to turn off the news in the header.

This is some amazing stuff, a tad over my head though.

Thanks for any help.

I tried the new file and got this:

Template Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /Themes/mobile204/index.template.php template or language file.
Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with
a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default theme.

That is so cool, thank you. I don't know if you know anything about adk portal but for some reason I am unable to post news, they say may be a template issue, but I say not as tried the core template and it still didn't post news, just the title, not the content. My url is www.runningtrades.com (http://www.runningtrades.com) and I private messaged you a log in account. Any help would be appreciated.

css/index.css Find / ADD::
/* the newsfader */
#newsfader
{
margin: 0 2px;
}
#smfFadeScroller
{
text-align: center;
padding: 0 2em;
overflow: auto;
margin: 1em 0;
color: #575757; /* shouldn't be shorthand style due to a JS bug in IE! */
   background-color: #FFFFFF;
}

I managed to change the banner and background and corners to white but cannot find the newsfader, is this important?

Have attached the file incase it is.

I more little thing... On the top menu where it says home, forum, help, etc. I need to put one more menu in for downloads. Is there somewhere I can change the font, or make the buttoms a bit small as when I am admin the new button wraps underneath?

Woe, I won't be touching that, I thought maybe in the css changing the font size would fit one more button.

Thank you so much for your help today, you have me way ahead with my template and site.

Your support is awesome, so are your templates.

Got to make shure. Do I understand it correct that you allready have an download tab, and that it falls down from the line? Or do you need to add an download tab, and don't know how?
Title: Re: Change theme Header - Mobile by Crip
Post by: darlene on Jan 31, 11, 07:27:13 PM
I am using adk portal and my top menu is full because I am the administrator. The program will automatically add a download section but when I do that the menu wraps to a new line and is really messed up.

I was just wondering if in the css you could change the font size and that would make the menu on the top of the page fit another choices.

Thanks for any help.

In index.css search for:
#navtop li a {
display: block;
line-height: 42px;
padding: 0 16px;
color: #f3f3f3;
font-size: 12px;
}

Change the padding in there to someting like:
#navtop li a {
display: block;
line-height: 42px;
padding: 0 12px;        /*<==Change here==>*/
color: #f3f3f3;
font-size: 12px;
}

Wow I have never seem such amazing support. I wasn't expecting you to do it for me, I was just asking if this is where it can be done. Thank you again. I am still trying to get the adk portal running right as I cannot create a block or save content in an article. I am not sure if they ever respond.

This is the best forum I have ever been on, thank you so much for your help.

One more question seeing as you guys are so great, I used the adk portal and nothing much is working.

Which simple portal would you recommend as I have taken my site down so many times in the last week I was kind of hoping for something more dependable.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Title: Re: Change theme Header - Mobile by Crip

I use SimplePortal on my sites. The portal used here is TinyPortal. I don't know much about that. Then there is DreamPortal two, wich I help translate.

It depends on what you want to do actually. So please elaborate that

I went with simple portal. I am not sure if the question I ask is related to smf, my template or simple portal, except had the same problem in adk.

When you bring in an article into a post it loses the paragraph breaks between each paragraph. I manually go through and put them in but it is quite easy to miss where a new paragraph starts, any idea if this is smf 2 or the template?

I had this before simple portal, I think I have had it ever since I installed smf 2, but I had so many problems with adk I barely got to think of this.

Here you go, I grabbed an article which had paragraph spacing and as you can see the text all goes together so I manually put in returns.

One more big question, I am not sure if this is in the theme or the source code, but I am using TP and bring my articles on the home page from a board I created called front page articles.

I have a huge problem in that I do not write the articles, I grab railway related articles from the Canadian press and post them on the site as we are all railway employees. Right now each article says
Quote06 Feb 2011 - Alberta's Worst Train Crash Happened 25 Years Ago  Written by admin posted in Front Page Articles Sunday, February 06, 2011 4 Views Print Page
Hinton rail disaster killed 23 passengers and crew and injured 95
. Somewhere I need to change the written by and just put posted, any idea where I would do this as I really will get nailed by the papers. Also how do I take the date out of the title as it is in two places. Thanks so much for your input.

By the way Crip I went with TP as tried 3 and this is by far the most advanced but there is a lot more too it to learn!

Yes it does, but do you have any idea where I can take the short date out of the article title and change the written by  to posted by.

I have tried looking at all the template files, and the TP files, maybe it is in the core but not sure where to look.

You had helped me customize the top of the forum for me and all has been working wonderful.

I just upgraded to the new version of smf and reinstalled tiny portal and I do not know what to do about my template, I know you have updated the template but because of the customization I do not know what I can upgrade and for some reason my forum images are showing as an error etc. when the path seems correct.

Would you mind having a look at www.runningtrades.com (http://www.runningtrades.com) at the forum and let me know if I should reinstall the new version of mobile but I still do not know how to change the header as you originally helped me with this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this upgrade has gone terrible

If you'd like to move your logo header stuff to the left then, change this in your index.css:

Find:
#logo {
    background: url("../images/img/logo.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
    cursor: pointer;
    display: block;
    height: 120px;
    left: 10em;
    position: absolute;
    top: 1em;
    width: 745px;
}

replace with this:
#logo {
    background: url("../images/img/logo.gif") no-repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
    cursor: pointer;
    display: block;
    height: 120px;
    left: 15px;
    position: absolute;
    top: 1em;
    width: 745px;
}

the ""left :"comment is the one play with

And on the missing images we will need a log-in to look at those, I think your referring to the icons on the left side of the category/
windows

regards,
Maxx

Darline,

I'm sure that Crip will help you just as soon as he can, He must be feeling bad, or he would have replied my now... so please hang in there. He will need to do allot of changes in the top section coding to get it back the way you had it... I hope you still have the images and the old theme backed up some where ( this will help)!

regards,
maxx

Once I realized it was the template messing with the upgrade I download a new copy and it seems to work okay, I did not cutomize the header and just put a logo in as think this would be good for upgrades though when I click on new posts in the top logo section it doesn't seem to work.

I made an account testing, password testing as realized probably no one could even see the forum. Thanks for any help.

I like that I just changed to logo as there is not too much customization but if you check out the top menu on the right where is say read new posts etc. it does not work, it just flips back to the front page of tiny portal. My upgrade just went awful this time. Does this template work with the newest version of smf.

I lost all my downloads and everything in tiny portal so the site really is not working well and I am not sure if the template needs upgrading or tiny portal is the problem.

I made a testing account password testing if you need this to be administrative just let me know. I am not sure which I am fighting with in this but I know you know both the template and tiny portal and I am pretty sure smf is fine.

Thanks for any input.

I managed to restore all of the tiny portal data, downloads etc. but when I go to downloads the whole page pops out of the frame,

The link I am using in my menu to go to the downloads is:

http://runningtrades.com/index.php?action=tpmod;dl

You will see downloads on the left menu of the home page.

I hope this helps as mostly I have recovered.

Okay you are an administrator. I am pretty sure it is tiny portal as when I click on any of the choices in the left menu everything pops out of the template and does the whole page. I am afraid I have made a terrible mess! Thank you.
