Title: Need INFO
Post by: king julian on Oct 09, 10, 04:35:14 PM
Hi!

I`m new around here, and I need one simple info:

Can you please tell mi the name of this theme (picture), and where can I download it? Is it free or premium theme?

Many thanks... :)

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/3230/clip2y.jpg

We have this forum of ours, and we are in attempt to upgrade it and change its appearances, and we would like to use this theme as a default (actually, we are still choosing theme, but this is the best that we found it for now)...

Not sure if this theme will be available? It is the site's default theme for now, but I"m Crip could help you chose a theme or something, I think the theme is called "zonetheme"?

regards,
Maxx

Thanks so much for answer... :)

We were searching for some time to find a nice default for our forum, and this would be perfect... sure, we have some 15-20 other possible choices (both smf 1.1.11 and  2.0, if we decide to upgrade), but this is top for now...

So, again, if anyone can tell me, I need the theme name, is it available for download, and where?

Sorry if I`m bugging you, but this is very important for me now...

Thanks again...

You may also want to visit Crip's demo site: http://demo.jpr62.com/ (http://demo.jpr62.com/)
and at the top of the page you'll find a drop down menu of many of his free themes to chose from or look at!

@Crip

Here it is...

I spoke with my admin, and he agreed about your offer... he is ok with $25 for the theme...

Now, he has one important question: how difficult is to change from 1.1.11 to 2.0 standard, can we transfer a whole database of forum easily from one to another standard without any danger of data loosing or something like that?

I know, this question must be stupid, but we are no experts in this, so... we must ask... :)
Title: Re: Need INFO
Post by: Crip on Oct 16, 10, 02:00:37 PM
Yes ,
you will not loose any Forum Data , it's not very difficult to download a LARGE _2.0 RC3 Upgrade & run the http://ww.forum.com/upgrade.php .. Back Up Everything ==> / Database / folders & files , just in-case..Be sure to be using SMF Default Theme while doing all this .. any problems just Post it.. and I can send the theme Download link via PM here..

If you'd like ..? ,.. I can also do the Upgrade for you if you make that:: $35.00 .. but that's Your choice?

Excelent!...

And one question from me: I like the option in my forum profile, where I can change the forum theme for me only (from an existing list)... is this possible in 2.0? Is it maybe in some way dangerous for forum safety?

Thx again...

No , as far as choosing your own Profile Theme it's all the same as 1.1.11 just easier.

So, I can have my themes collection in my profile option? That would be awesome... :)

Ok, I just contacted my admin...

He is delihgted with your offer, and I will give you our forum and site link, so that you can see who we are... we are the most visited orthodox christianity portal in our sorounding...

And he asks can you also, acording to this chosen theme, do a small redesign of our main site page, and how much will that cost?

Any theme you have now will not work on a RC3 Forum , unless Updated ..

Upgrade i can do -- main\site theme I can't do any redesigning .. it's just not my Thang..

Post by: king julian on Oct 16, 10, 03:23:18 PM
Ok, the redesign we will do...

About themes - in other words, not only the original 2.0 themes, but upgraded 1.1.11 themes  can work on 2.0 forum?

I called my admin, is currently bussy, when I get any news I will post...
Title: Re: Need INFO
Post by: king julian on Oct 16, 10, 03:53:05 PM
Just made contact with him, it is all ok, we would like you to do the transfer from 1.1.11 to 2.0 RC3, and the theme adding for $35 (and implanting of additional themes if that`s ok /you know, the ones that I`ll change from time to time/, for these I already have a listed collection, that I can send to you)...

What is our next movement?

I need info via PM --
ftp: // Host // Username // Password // .. possibly even Cpanel => Username // Password // Domain // jpr26.com ..??
.i'm free to begin now with your Upgrade 1st. ... also your Forum will likely go for maintenance mode during the upgrade just so you know..

Post by: king julian on Oct 16, 10, 04:28:02 PM
Yeah, these data I will provide as fast as I can...

Since the forum will be shot down for a while when under maintenance, I need to ask my admin when can we do that...

I will be going about this now, when I have it all that takes, I`ll be back... :)

Hope that it is not a problem if I don`t get all before the tomorrow...

Title: Re: Need INFO
Post by: king julian on Oct 17, 10, 05:08:22 PM
Ok, here is the final...

My admin, due to some problems about contacting a man that has the data needed (for 2.0 upgrade), has finaly decided only to buy the theme, but not to upgrade yet... when we get the data we will see about the rest how to do it...

So much easier for you then... :)

Now, we only have a little issue - here where we are, the pay pal does not work yet... is there any other way (credit card of some sort, anything...) that we can send you the money?

I must be asking something stupid again, but this is the first time I do a buying like this, so don`t criticize me, please... :-\

Any answer? Thx for the time again...
Title: Re: Need INFO

Problem is this theme is made for 2.0 RC3 ... it will not work on a 1.1.11 Forum ..not compatible...so , ?? i dunno now.. ?
Title: Re: Need INFO
Post by: king julian on Oct 17, 10, 05:24:24 PM
No, no, no problem about that, we will surely upgrade, but we can`t do that now, the data we need is not available to us at the moment (the man who did the maintenance - we can`t reach him, and we don`t know when we will)...

So we decided to take over the theme (because you already got it done), and upgrade after that, as soon as we can (and then apply the theme, of course)...

Now, all I need is the way to transfer the money to you... :)

Hm, I`m tellin` ya, I`m totaly dumb for this :idiot2:, I need a more detailed instruction...

When I press "donate" button, on following page you have a country to choose - that is a problem I talk about - no my country there... how do I solve this?

Is it maybe better (in this case) to do it via the "western union"? This service is available here in my country...

Hi there, again...

While we wait to do our upgrade and apply the new theme (will be soon), I have antoher tech question: on this 1.1.11 version we have now, how can I embed a picassa slideshow? You know, in one regular post...
And can anyone do that, or it must be the forum admin?

Thx for support, we are still learning... :)

Btw, nice new theme you have here...

king julian,

I'm going to take a shot at this even though I've never used a Picassa Slideshow.  From what I've read about it in the past, I believe that the embedding code for one requires that you be able to post html.  SMF limits the ability of anyone posting html in Forum posts to Admins of their own sites, using bbc codes to accomplish this.  For this reason, I don't believe that just anyone on your site would be able to post a Picassa Slideshow in a Forum post.

Now, if you were using some Portal software, like TinyPortal (one that is near and dear to our hearts), you could conceivably allow anyone to post html articles that contain the html for the slideshow.  Even if you were to do that, it would be best to make sure that these articles created by others are approved by you before they are released (published) to the rest of your members.  However, TinyPortal gives you enough creative control to be able to do this in an efficient manner.

Now, again, I could be wrong about how these things work.  If you can give me some embedding code for a slideshow, or even a link where I can read about it, I can probably show you what it looks like on one of my test sites, in both a TinyPortal article and in a Forum post.

I'm kind of in agreement with ZarPrime on this, I would not want members to be able to just embed code to my forum all willy nilly lol..

First off if they use a code that is  sized to large ( just a simple unknowingly mistake) can through your page or page way out of whack, and some time corrupt tables, leaving you in big trouble unless you know how to correct MYSQL problems (or even just bad code).

Then you find those whom may want to do damage to your site and this would be bad news.

Now as admin just adding a few

tags u can do this for them, if it relevant to your content, I have many request for videos and such and I go to the sites I like and get the embedded code and place it myself and size it the way I like!

Now if you want to add an embedded Slide show as a front page or top of the front page there are many ways to do this.

But for me better safe and a little work than sorry.
I left my site without spam control just one night and had 200 porno spam ads on my site the next day, and I glad I found them real early in the morning had to go to maint mode and delete them all and bad the IP.

If you have a trusted member or mod you can give them permission to do this..

regards,
maxx

ZarPrime, Maxx...

Recently, I received admin status on our forum... so, I guess this means I can post this picassa...

It is not a front page stuff or anything alike, but one of our honored members would like to post a slideshow about himself...

I will try this, just as you guys sugested (place code in html tags, if I got it correctly), and if I have any problems, I will come back again...

Many thx for help and your time... :)
Title: Re: Need INFO

If you visit a site that allows you to place there stuff on your site they will have a link or button to parse the embedded code...copy and paste with-in the html tags and add center tag if need!

but do it in the bbc  HTML mode. if not set you can do this in your profile settings!

Maxx
Title: Re: Need INFO

Huh, Maxx, what is a center tag?
Title: Re: Need INFO
Post by: king julian on Oct 31, 10, 01:28:48 PM
And another thing - could you be more specific about how to set a bbc html?
Did I understood correctly that this option is in my personal forum profile?

Sorry to bother you with all this... New I am in it, as the Yoda would say...
Title: Re: Need INFO

While logged in as admin> click on Profile then go to the>"Look and Layout">"Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default".> and click on the little radio button> this will allow you to chose between HTML editor or WYSIWYG editor when you are posting, there will be on the right top side of you BBC window an icon (http://www.jpr62.com/theme/Themes/sandy/images/bbc/toggle.gif) called Toggle view, you will need to be in the HTML mode to properly post an Embedded flash/video or post.

Now I found it useful to place the embedded code in like this:

embedded code here

so it will be centered on the post window or center block!

Maxx
